eco-friendly decorating

Our Philosophy

The Home Curator’s commitment to you goes beyond creating beautiful and meaningful living spaces.  Our eco-friendly and money saving approach to decorating encourages recycling.  But when buying new is desired, we promote the use of sustainable or “green” products.  Green products will nurture you and your family’s health and the earth’s well-being.  We believe that you deserve to live in a home that elegantly blends comfort, health, energy efficiency, environmental sustainability and personal well-being.

Living Green
  • Consider buying health and earth-friendly low or zero volatile organic compound (VOC) paints.
  • Replace one light bulb with a compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulb.
  • For window treatments, use sustainable materials such as linen, cotton, wool, bamboo, and silk.
  • If you have carpeting that is there to stay, especially newer carpet, throw a natural-fiber area rug (sisal is a good example) over it to limit the amount of chemicals that are released into the air.
  • Purchasing antiques or second-hand furniture is a great, earth-friendly alternative to purchasing new furniture.
  • Buy art and accessories from local stores and artists. Also, look for accessories that are made from natural materials.
